HOLIDAYS
in the Andalusian countryside
Spend
your holidays in or around one of the ancient, whitewashed
Andalusian villages, and experience the legendary Art of Living of
the south. Far from the
hustle and bustle of mass tourism and pollution, the main traffic in
our narrow and winding alleys is made up of mules and goats rather
than cars and lorries. Our
landscapes are unspoiled, with as much as 18% of the region declared
to be Nature Parks, and our ancient traditions are still alive and
well. The weather in
autumn, spring, and even winter is dry, with daytime temperatures
always between 15-20 degrees centigrade, and with over 300 days of
sunshine per year in most parts of the region.
Travellers who bring their children will appreciate the warm
welcome which Andalusians traditionally give to the little ones.
As
a rural tourist, you will thrill to the flight of an eagle as it
circles over its prey; you
will learn what thyme, rosemary and oregano smell like when they
come from the land rather than sprinkled out of a bottle or onto a
pizza; you can listen to the burbling of water in a mountain stream,
and even get a chance to milk a goat and make your own goat cheese,
the old-fashioned way.
The
RAAR - RED ANDALUZA DE ALOJAMIENTOS RURALES
(Andalusian Network of Rural Accommodation) is a private, non-profit association of owners of Andalusian
farm and country homes as well as family-run hotels and pensions,
which have opened their doors to visitors.
We offer a wide choice of about 400 establishments, ranging
from rustic cottages in the wilds, rooms with en suite facilities in
a traditional hacienda, private rooms in quaint villages, as well as
country homes and even the fascinating "troglodyte homes"
(caves). We also
represent hostels for groups and basic camping facilities on farms.
